I can’t help but wonder if anyone else is going to post a blog with this title today?
Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas have to be my favorite set of holidays during the year. I mean you get candy, food, and gifts. What more could you ask for? We’ve recently celebrated Little Miss Princess’s first Halloween to great success. We are hopeful that she will enjoy Thanksgiving as well, but maybe not as much as she will next year. She is eating a little bit of solid food here and there, but not enough to enjoy a holiday spread that we’re used to having.
Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Rolls, Mashed Potatoes, Candied Yams, Creamed Corn, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Roll, Green Bean Casserole, Cranberry Sauce, and this year I’ve asked for a Pecan Pie. The list is longer some years and shorter others. New recipes are tried and others are sometimes forgotten. As long as I have Stuffing and Rolls I’m good.
This is also the time of year where we ponder about what we’re thankful for. 2016 has been a good year for some and a horrible year for others. Personally, I don’t think it’s been that bad, but I understand why others feel differently. In many instances this year really, really sucks. But, here are a few things that I’ve liked about 2016…
- We moved to a new area of the country
- I started my new job
- We welcomed our baby girl
- We moved into our new apartment
- We celebrated our first year of marriage
- The Election if finally over
- We enjoyed some really good crustless pumpkin pie last night
What are you thankful for this year? What are your favorite traditional foods for Thanksgiving?
