King of Kissful Thinking

As I mentioned here 2014 will be the year of bloggers, for bloggers. Influenced by, and dedicated to Daile at kissmeoutofdesire, please enjoy the following.

I really like this song. It’s the perfect 80’s cheese in my opinion. It’s also where my title came from. I wanted to include it here, but not the original. I tried to do some research into what kind of music Daile likes and I think this might fit into her wheelhouse, or at least I hope it does. If not I will do better next time. (Sorry)

I can’t remember the specifics of Daile’s and mine meeting. The one thing I do remember is her Gravatar photo.

Purple is one of my favorite colors. It may be because my home school colors are purple and gold…

Go Cubs!
Go Cubs!

I also like the glasses, having a pair or two similar myself. Then I found out that she was from Australia, which is super cool. There’s like some sort of thing on every street corner that can kill you over there. We can’t forget about the accent. Every time I read something from her I imagine it in that accent. Makes the reading that much more enjoyable for me, not that it’s bad though. And last, but not least we have Bixby. The cat that actually likes to take baths. All kitties could learn a thing or two from Bixby.

Note: I wrote this before the “new hair” announcement.

Anyway, back to the kisses!

After New Year’s I was reflecting on some of my past New Year’s Eve celebrations. For the life of me I cannot remember a single time when I celebrated the New Year with a kiss. (Family doesn’t count) Now, I know there may be some of my friends out there that remember a time when BroJo would go out and get all nine sheets to the wind (that’s right… most people get three sheets, I got nine sheets) and maybe one of these times happened on a New Year’s Eve night, and maybe I did in fact share a kiss with some chick I didn’t know, or maybe I did know her. I don’t remember. That’s the point. I don’t remember a single time when I celebrated the New Year with a kiss.

2014 – Eating good food and watching The Lone Ranger at a friend’s house. It was 12:06 before we realized the New Year Started. No kiss.

2013 – Eating good food and watching a movie at a friend’s house. No kiss,

2012 – Jaycees New Year’s Eve Party. I had been sober for about four months so people were continually asking me what was in my cup. The party actually sucked so we all went to a friend’s house and watched the ball drop. No kiss. Some hugs though.

2011 – Jaycees New Year’s Eve Party. I won Jaycee of the Year! I got toasted on Crown and Coke, among many, many other things. I flirted my way through the party, still able to stay off the dance floor. No kiss.

2010 – Jaycees New Year’s Eve Party.  I won Jaycee of the Third Trimester! Crown and Coke. That’s all I can remember. No kiss.

2009-2000 – Something happened somewhere that involves alcohol. No kisses that I remember.

1982-1999 – Something happened somewhere that involves watching television and getting to stay up until midnight! No kisses that count that I remember.

I didn’t really do any official New Year’s Resolutions this year. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of things that I would like to accomplish, I’ve just decided to keep them all to myself. Accept perhaps this one.

I resolve to ring in 2015 with a kiss.

So keep track ladies. I don’t know where I’ll be in a year, so if it’s close to you, you better watch out. (I’m not going to just take it though so don’t worry. I won’t go all Blurred Lines on you. I’m just psyching myself up.) I may need a reminder too. Have you seen my chap stick?

11) Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. 12) Greet one another with an holy kiss. 13) All the saints salute you. ~ 2 Corinthians 13: 11-13
