Breakfast for Dinner

Every once in a while there is a need to step outside of the norm. A need to do what you feel is right. To eat pancakes for dinner. Here is the planning process and completion of my Brinner tonight.

7:00 a.m. – Wake up

Hey, there’s some pancake mix in there. Maybe I can fix that for breakfast.

No, I don’t have enough time for that. But thanks for reminding me.

10:00 a.m. – Finished with first hour of Church

Oh man, I should have fixed those pancakes this morning. I am starving!

I know. Don’t forget, I have that left over Pizza Hut in there. That will be good.

Oh yeah. For sure. Man, now I’m even more hungry.

Just hang on for a little while longer. You can do it.

12:30 p.m. – Stopped by home to close the windows, because it started raining during Church. Missionaries are with me.

Elder P – Snooping through my fridge and freezer. “Lean Cuisine, nothing in there. What!? Pizza Hut!? When did you order that?”

“Yeah, I got that Thursday or Friday. That’s going to be my lunch and dinner.”

Whatever man. You know you’re going to eat all that for lunch. I’m Starving!

Shut up! You’re probably right though.

1:30 p.m. – Drop Missionaries off. Lunch time.

Well, this isn’t that much, so it will do just fine for lunch.

Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom……What?

2:30 p.m. – Nap time

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz – Hey, turn off the TV.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz – What? Oh, okay. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

5:30 p.m. – Wake up. Do Work

Alright. I better get something done. Got to clean those dishes.

What! I hate doing dishes. Hey, what’s for dinner?

Nobody likes doing dishes, genius. How bout those pancakes?

Yeah, I guess. That’s an outstanding idea! I haven’t had pancakes in months.

6:00 p.m. – Start making Brinner!

Yeah, I got my mix, butter, and syrup warming. This is going to be great.

You bet it is. I hope I make enough. It only calls for one cup.

6:30 p.m. – Eat Brinner!

This is so good. Fluffy, moist, and buttery. Good thing the syrup is butter flavor too.

I know, right? Mmmm, pancakes. I think these are the best I’ve ever had.

6:35 p.m. – Still Eating

Hmm. These are good, but man, I’m not sure if I can finish them.

Oh, come on. Put your big boy pants on Nancy. You can do it.

Oops, I dropped some on my white under shirt.

That’s okay. It’ll match the ketchup and mustard stains on there already.

6:40 p.m. – Still Eating

Oh Em Geeze. Why did I make so much. One more bite.

Yeah, these things are so gross. Whose idea was this anyway?

Now I know why I haven’t had pancakes in so long.

I’m never eating them again, that’s for sure. Too sweet, and filling.

7:00 p.m. – Write post about worst dinner ever

There you have it. Do you do Breakfast for Dinner? What do you have? Eggs, bacon, breakfast burritos?

  1. LOVE breakfast for dinner. The key to wanting pancakes again is to make them from scratch. Although I doubt there’s a person on the earth that can resist the siren call of one bite too many of pancake. The husband prefers a savory breakfast so I often make scrambled eggs with fresh salsa, black beans, guacamole, cilantro in them. Pancakes are breakfast dessert.

  2. That’s our favourite here! I love breakfast for supper, especially pancakes. I like using buckwheat flour for yumminess, and a mashed banana instead of the sugar when i make them. =0)

    1. A dillion you say? That sounds like a lot. I’m glad you can eat them like that. I feel a little sick just thinking about that. Now, there are foods I could to that with, just not pancakes.

    1. Why not Biscuits and gravy….and….sausage, eggs and eglish muffins? That’s how I roll at the local diner.

Back during the drinking days we would go to an all night place around 2-3 in the morning. Every time I would get chicken fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns, and doulble order of B’s & G’s. I never remember eating the meal, but I do know that I finished my plate each time.

  3. I’m not a breakfast person…in the morning. I love breakfast foods but don’t have the stomach for it at 7am. I usually wait until 9 or 10 to eat breakfast at work. Thus brinner, for me, is a wonderful thing. Time to enjoy all those wonderful foods when my body feels like eating them.

  4. Breakfast: It’s What’s for Dinner! Pancakes for dinner is a great treat. Sometimes I also like to have scrambled eggs and bacon for dinner, or an omelet. I never thought about having a breakfast burrito for dinner but now I guess I know what’s on the menu tonight! Also, high five for the word “Brinner.”

    1. Oh Yeah. I tear me up some chorizo, egg, and cheese in the P.M. about once every two months or so. High five back at ya. Dickfast just doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? And I think it might be inappropriate.

    1. Hmm. Single dudes don’t have reason to buy milk. Every single time I’ve bought milk, while living alone, some of it has gone bad. I enjoy milk, just not enough to keep it on hand.

      1. I mean, I get it. I am a single girl with the same milk problems. But, anything with the word cake in it or that involves syrup and I MUST have milk to wash it down. You are one strong individual.
