Did You Know…Bruddah Was A Bull Rider?

If he rode around home I went and watched. He traveled quite a bit too. I missed those rides, but still got to see them on video. Soon after he started riding I began to watch it on TV as well. PBR…it’s not just a cheap beer anymore. I wrote this for him a few years ago. I’m not sure how accurate this is, but he seemed to enjoy it very much. I hope you do too.

Eight Seconds Tonight

One day in one week, eight seconds tonight

I’ve got to get my mind in the middle

I want the bull to move with all its might

Blow, Buck or Spin? Makes the perfect riddle

***

It’s almost my turn, got to get ready

Boots, Hat, Spurs, Chaps, Rope, Glove, got it all here

“Wow, did you see that one?” Keep your head steady

That guy didn’t last very long. No Fear, No Fear

***

Three more to go, got to get that buckle

Can’t pay attention to those other rides

Here we go, pull the rope to the knuckle

Slide up, ready to go, the bull confides

***

The crowd is standing, ready to make noise

Tonight is mine, “Okay boys, Let’s go Boys!”

***

I had this put on a plaque and gave it to him for Christmas a few years ago. I was pushing it, as it came in about two days before Christmas day. Some of the family wasn’t very happy with me when they saw it. I got a few complaints “he’s not gonna like what we got him. Not after he sees that!” You know what? They were kind of right. He did enjoy everybody’s gifts, but not as much as this plaque. (I got to toot my horn every once in a while) Every single time he’s moved, and I’ve come to check out the new place he shows me and says “See, I got it hung up already. It’s always the first thing to go up.” I guess I did an alright job.

Bruddah and Muddah. Notice Cowboy hat and belt buckle. That is probably one that he won sometime in high school, or shortly after.

I almost forgot about this post, until someone happened upon it today. This is a poem I wrote for my brother a few years back. It was also a Christmas present for him. There is a picture of him and my Mom here. Remember that face…you will see it again soon….in her Christmas Decorating Bonanza!! post.
