September 11, 20XX – Craig Says it Best

One of my favorite Late Night talk show host is Craig Ferguson over at The Late Late Show on CBS. Almost every one of his monologues starts out with “It’s a great day for America, everybody!” It’s a great way to get the show started. He does things different on September 11th though. Each year he has said, something to the effect of, “It [September 11] will no longer be a great day in America” He then goes into a brief memorial/tribute for all of the fallen from that horrible day. In 2009, he said,

“Even people that do not like the United States of America will see this show…So if you are watching, first of all, [bleep]!” and went on to describe the USA as “more than a country” and finished by saying, “We are the United States of America. And we’re not going anywhere!”
