But it was worth it.
A few months ago I went to our local Fine Dinning/Liquor store to purchase a beer. I was having the missionaries over for dinner and I decided to fry up some fish. I hadn’t had beer batter in a while so I wanted to try it out. I went into the establishment and asked the owner what he thought. I ended up getting a bottle of Miller Chill, which a lite beer that has an added lime flavor. I figured we could kill two birds with one stone. This way I didn’t need to use any citrus flavoring. That was the first beer I had bought since I quit drinking. I haven’t bought one since, until tonight.
Tonight we celebrated the life of a sweet, lovely, wonderful young woman. This is the same lady I spoke about in this post about getting my hair cut. We watched a great service and then I decided to go out and pay tribute. I called my Bruddah to see what he was doing. He had drill this weekend so I called someone else and found out where the party was tonight. I headed on over to one of our local restaurant/bars. I didn’t think I could very well pay tribute with my usual Coke so I ordered up an O’Douls. For those of you that don’t know, this is a nonalcoholic beer. For the record, I DO NOT miss drinking beer. It was alright for what it was.
My friends showed up about twenty minutes later and we all sat down. By that time I was ready for another one. I choked it down and we decided to head on over to a different establishment. When I went to go tab out I asked the bartender to add a Michelob Ultra to it. I didn’t get it for myself. In fact, I’m not even sure who did drink it, but I do know who it was from. This is the first beer I’ve bought, for consumption, in over a year. I told the bartender to give it to the next person that orders that kind. Whoever ended up receiving it has never had one any better.
I don’t think it’s really hit me until right about now. Going through and seeing all of the Facebook updates are hitting close to my heart. Goodbye sweet lady. I miss you already and can’t wait to see you again.
