Oh wow, today is so great. Not only am I finally done with that one blogroll contest, I also have a few milestones to talk to you about today.
First off, today is Fast Sunday. During Fast Sunday the entire membership has the opportunity to get up before the others and bear their testimony. I especially like these Sundays because nothing is assigned, nothing is prepared. Everything that is said comes straight from the heart. Not to say that prepared talks aren’t also from the heart, but this is just different. Many people don’t know whether or not they’re going to get up until the moment that they do. Others are prompted a few days in advance. And then there are the kids. They are something special on these days. While going through and doing this they are learning what the Holy Spirit feels like, and what to do when that feeling comes over them. It’s always the most simple testimony, but you can tell they’re also the ones that are “meant” the most, the ones that come the easiest. Another good thing about Fast Sunday is there is always something that we are Fasting for. If we didn’t Fast for a reason, then we would just be starving ourselves, right? Well, the last couple of months we’ve tried to dedicate some of our prayers towards receiving rain. It seems that these prayers have been answered. We had a wonderful, full day of rain yesterday. I feel sorry for were the rain came from though. It’s weird to think that the rain can be so much of a blessing for us, and at the same time be such a burden for others. This was pointed out by one of the Counselors today. So, enough about me, and more about..well…me, in a different way.
So, there are a couple of milestones for me to talk about. The first is pretty basic, not that big of a deal. This morning I hit 40,000 total views. Holy Cow!! I can’t believe that many people have clicked on a link that has led to my page. It’s pretty amazing.
The second thing is truly unbelievable, especially to me. The last month or so I’ve had a pretty bad cough. This week I’ve finally been able to get rid of it. No, that’s not the news. The news is, even if people haven’t been able to tell, today is my one year anniversary for when I quit smoking. How bout that? I feel so much better and healthier now. It’s so great.
Does anyone have anything they need to celebrate here recently? Did you quit smoking? How did you do it?
This is where I bear my testimony to all of you guys. I know that the Church I attend is the True Church. I know that the fullness of the Gospel has been given to us in these Latter Days. I know that this Church is led by a True Prophet, even Thomas S. Monson. I know that the Book of Mormon is True and that The Bible is True. I have read both and I can testify that the Author of each is our Heavenly Father. I know that the knowledge of all of these things has helped me overcome so much in my life, and I’m very grateful for all of it, including all of the Members that I have met over the last year. I know that when we finally figure out that it’s time for us to better ourselves, there is always someone there to help you. I testify of all these things in the name of Our Lord, even Jesus Christ.
